Alan Hayward wins Passive House Scholarship

14 December 2017

Alan Hayward, one of Context’s sustainability experts, has just been announced as the recipient of the Pro Clima Certified Passive House Designer and Consultant Scholarship 2017.

Pro Clima will pick up the tab for Alan to further his sustainability credentials as he studies Passive House design principles at the New Zealand Passive House Academy.

“I’m very pleased and grateful to have won this scholarship. I’ve worked on a few projects aimed at meeting the passive house standard, so getting formal Passive House training has been one of my goals. I’m excited to be finally doing it and look forward to applying the knowledge in my work.”

Passive house (German: Passivhaus) is a rigorous, voluntary standard for energy efficiency in a building, reducing its ecological footprint. It results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling.

Ben Frost in our Christchurch team is one of only a handful of certified Passive House designers in the country, and will support Alan on his journey.
